About Me

I qualified as a clinical hypnotherapist way back in 2007. Since then I have gained experience both personally and professionally. I worked for 14 years in the mental health sector before embarking on my counselling journey. After studying at The University of South Wales Newport, I am now a fully qualified pluralistic counsellor and therapeutic practitioner.

I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with a diverse range of problems. As a fully-qualified counsellor I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their code of ethics.

Choosing to see a counsellor is a brave and meaningful step towards caring for yourself. It is an important decision - and often a valuable step towards personal growth and emotional wellbeing. If you are wondering if Solacis therapy is the right choice for you, you could read on for further information about what we have to offer.

How therapy can be beneficial - My approach as a Pluralistic practitioner.

Life can be challenging, and at times, overwhelming. Whether you’re facing a specific issue or feeling stuck in a way of living that no longer serves you, therapy offers a safe and supportive space to reflect, heal, and grow.

As a pluralistic counsellor, I believe that no single therapeutic approach works for everyone. Each person is unique—and so is the way we work together. I draw from a range of evidence-based methods to tailor our sessions to your individual needs, goals, and preferences. This means we can explore different techniques and perspectives, working collaboratively to find what truly resonates with you.

Therapy with me is not about giving advice or finding quick fixes. It’s about developing insight, discovering your strengths, and creating meaningful change on your own terms. Together, we can identify what matters most to you, understand patterns that may be holding you back, and uncover new, empowering ways of living.

Ultimately, my aim is to support you in becoming more self-aware, confident, and connected—to yourself and others.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need counselling or therapy?

Counseling is typically used to address current issues and can be resolved in a limited number of sessions, while therapy delves deeper into more substantial life problems and may require a longer-term approach. The choice between the two depends on the client's specific needs and circumstances. Sometimes, counseling may work well as a long-term option, while therapy could resolve an issue in just a few sessions. Solacis therapy offers both services and works with your needs collaborating over how many sessions and how often you require them.

How long will I need sessions for?

The duration of counseling varies for each person and depends on the complexity of their issues. While some individuals may find that a few sessions are sufficient to address their concerns and move forward, others may require a more flexible and extended approach. Before starting our work together, we will mutually decide on the number of sessions and review our progress at the end of that agreed-upon period. If both parties believe that further therapy would be beneficial, sessions can continue.

Is there a waiting list?

The goal is to schedule an initial assessment within 1 week. Following the assessment, we will arrange regular sessions for the same time each week based on mutual availability. The start date for these sessions will depend on the availability of open time slots. We are currently taking bookings to start in September 2025.

Do you ever break confidentiality?

Anything shared during our sessions is kept confidential. This privacy is essential in counselling and sets it apart from casual conversations with friends or family. However, there are rare situations where I may need to breach confidentiality if there is a risk of harm to you or others, but I would always try to discuss this with you first.

Can I bring someone with me?

I am normally asked this question by individuals who are feeling anxious about starting counselling or who are seeking support when seeing a therapist. This worry is natural, but it's important for you to feel comfortable discussing any concerns that are significant to you during therapy. Having someone else present may hinder your ability to open up about these issues, so I prefer not to see clients accompanied by friends or family.
