Welcome, and thank you for visiting Solacis Therapy.
Solacis therapy provides counselling services that are tailored to the preferences of our clients. We understand that different clients benefit from different methods at different times. We work in collaboration with our clients as co-therapists to work in a way that is most beneficial for them. We understand that feelings and emotions change, and review the therapeutic process with our clients making any beneficial and reasonable adjustments when required.
I qualified as a clinical hypnotherapist way back in 2007. Since then I have gained experience both personally and professionally. I worked for 14 years in the mental health sector before embarking on my counselling journey. After studying at The University of South Wales Newport, I am now fully qualified to be a pluralistic counsellor and therapeutic practitioner.
I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with a diverse range of problems. As a fully-qualified counsellor I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their code of ethics.
Making the decision to see a counsellor is a big step to take - but it can be a positive one. Please read on to find out more about how I could help you.

Counselling occurs in a secure environment where you can talk to someone who will listen with care and understanding, free from any judgment. In this therapeutic setting, you can freely express your thoughts and feelings with confidence that they will be kept in confidence.
Struggling with a relationship, experiencing anxiety or panic attacks, or dealing with mood swings or depression - numerous individuals encounter challenges in their daily lives that can be difficult to overcome. Counselling aids a deeper insight into the root causes of these issues and how to work towards managing or resolving them.
Through collaboration with your therapist, you will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges you are encountering and find the best way to work together in accordance with your therapeutic needs and preferences.

Counseling is typically used to address current issues and can be resolved in a limited number of sessions, while therapy delves deeper into more substantial life problems and may require a longer-term approach. The choice between the two depends on the client's specific needs and circumstances. Sometimes, counseling may work well as a long-term option, while therapy could resolve an issue in just a few sessions. Solacis therapy offers both services and works with your needs collaborating over how many sessions and how often you require them.
The duration of counseling varies for each person and depends on the complexity of their issues. While some individuals may find that a few sessions are sufficient to address their concerns and move forward, others may require a more flexible and extended approach. Before starting our work together, we will mutually decide on the number of sessions and review our progress at the end of that agreed-upon period. If both parties believe that further therapy would be beneficial, sessions can continue.
The goal is to schedule an initial assessment within 1-2 weeks. Following the assessment, we will arrange regular sessions for the same time each week based on mutual availability. The start date for these sessions will depend on the availability of open time slots.
Anything shared during our sessions is kept confidential. This privacy is essential in counselling and sets it apart from casual conversations with friends or family. However, there are rare situations where I may need to breach confidentiality if there is a risk of harm to you or others, but I would always try to discuss this with you first.
I am normally asked this question by individuals who are feeling anxious about starting counselling or who are seeking support when seeing a therapist. This worry is natural, but it's important for you to feel comfortable discussing any concerns that are significant to you during therapy. Having someone else present may hinder your ability to open up about these issues, so I prefer not to see clients accompanied by friends or family.
